Hospitals and Emergency Medical services easy and timely access to coherent health services is an important goal for Region Zealand. Another goal is to ensure as many treatments as possible completed at the Region’s own hospitals.

Every year around 1 million ambulant treatments are completed and 190.000 patients are treated in the Region’s hospitals.

In 2010, the Regional Council decided on a plan for the Region’s hospitals: The Region’s main hospital will be situated in Køge. Holbæk, Slagelse and Nykøbing Falster will have emergency hospitals and Roskilde and Næstved will have specialized hospitals.

A large Emergency Medical Service set-up ensures prompt and local treatment. Ambulances and emergency vehicles are allocated throughout the region from the Emergency Medical Service. Additionally, there are health centers in a number of towns.
