Hospitals in Region Zealand

Region Zealand is one of five Danish regions and is centrally located, neighboring the Danish capital region. Region Zealand safeguards tasks, services and interests for a total of 820.000 citizens.

There are 7 somatic hospitals and 1 psychiatric hospital in Region Zealand. The 6 major somatic hospitals are the following:

The psychiatric hospital was opened in Slagelse in mid 2015, and gathers all psychiatric beds in the west of Zealand and all the forensic psychiatry in Zealand. The hospital contains 200 beds, an emergency department and an ambulatory care unit.

From 2021 Region Zealand will host a new super hospital - Zealand University Hospital, which is in full process of construction in the province city Køge. The project is visionary in terms of both architecture and organizational ambition. The entire project focus on properties that facilitates patient treatment and quick recovery within an environment that is sustainable (in terms of environmental, economic and social engineering), efficient and flexible.
